This carnival is not a simple costumed parade but the theatrical finale of an outreach project begun well in advance. A playful and educational approach that allows every child to learn about the cultural identity of the area they live in and share with the other inhabitants of this territory. “A common, accepted culture, for a shared space.”
EPTRON, emperor of the robots: carnival 2014
12 January 2203: the genius mathematician and astrophysicist Milo Gribouille adjusts his time machine one last time… Having noticed that the robots of his time are increasingly malfunctioning and rebelling, he decides to explore the 21st century to look for the historical causes of this disobedience among the people who invented the first domestic robots.
KARBOX, master of the cold: Carnival 2012
An evil being from a distant planet has seized Mont Denise and the extinct volcano: he extends his powers over the little peoples of the Velay, seeking to enslave them in order to make their land barren and uninhabitable, confiscating spring to establish his empire “ETERNAL WINTER”.
But resistance is organising itself: the climatology professor Edouarte PEGASSON, escaped from the monster’s prisons and accompanied by a few fugitives, asks for the help of the children, organised in groups whose emblems are the “Totems” of the Velay (the Velay black sheep, the lentil, lace, the fattened ox, the pig, mushrooms, trout, broom, volcanoes, and so on and so on…).
The only way to fight KARBOX is unity, the group, solidarity. For he feeds exclusively on individualism, selfishness and loneliness, which make him grow through their coldness. In order to join forces against this implacable enemy and to help one another, each group, scattered across the urban community, communicates with the others by means of secret messages, makes its totem and prepares to do battle.
Alas, on a dark night, the monster sends his henchmen, the CHIMEPLADOUX, to steal the totems. Dismay seizes the peoples of the Velay, but the arrival of the crack inspectors of the C.P.P. (Climate and Pollution Police), Miss Julie and Miss Rosa, allows the children to continue their preparations for the final confrontation.
But until then, will the Velay sink into chaos? Or will the combined strength of its peoples overcome the terrible creature? Will spring return? Will the round of the seasons resume its dance?
